About this Project
The PN76897 Aircraft Maintenance Hangar, located at the Wheeler Army Airfield, Hawaii, includes the construction of a new three-story, 88,030-square-foot rotary wing aircraft maintenance hangar. This facility features a high-bay that can accommodate six UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters and includes two 10-ton bridge cranes. The hangar’s low-bay area comprises work rooms, an aviation and life support equipment shop, storage rooms, an arms vault, quality control space, production control space, repair shops, a power plant and powertrain shop, mechanical and electrical rooms, logistics support, office space, a non-destructive inspection room, a multi-purpose break room, restrooms and an aircraft parts supply area.
This project marks the launch of the Hawaii Infrastructure Readiness Initiative (HIRI), serving as the first phase of a master plan to strengthen the combat aviation brigade and support the Pacific Fleet’s expanding mission. As the program’s top-priority project, this facility sets the benchmark for future infrastructure upgrades at Wheeler Airfield and throughout the region. By delivering a state-of-the-art maintenance hub, the hangar significantly enhances Wheeler’s operational capacity and fleet management, advancing both the Pacific Fleet’s objectives and the long-term goals of HIRI.Ìý
